As of 2017, DuPont’s site in Grindsted, Denmark, is 100 percent carbon neutral. After replacing all former coal-fired fuel sources with wood chips, the site has reduced its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 45,000 tons. The facility produces surplus heat that is delivered back into the local community, avoiding additional CO2 emissions in that system as well. As a result of this work, the site expects to reduce emissions by 64,000 tons of CO2 equivalent per year.
