Our mission to drive positive change globally begins by making a difference locally.
An essential part of our mission is to connect with people and drive progress through community outreach, education partnerships, and a strong culture of volunteerism. This strategic approach to community impact is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and enables us to meet local needs while empowering employees in the communities where they work and live.

Technical Centers
DuPont conducts research at sites around the world including major Technical Centers with comprehensive lab facilities. At these centers of technical excellence, we perform research in many fields and collaborate with our partners in business, government, academia, and local communities. We also have R&D sites offering a wide range of business-specific development labs and technical service centers.

Community Impact Stories
Increasing environmental awareness among children in Zhangjiagang, China
Many children in China are not aware of DuPont, or how our innovative science and technology positively impacts the environment.
Our Zhangjiagang site partnered with the Jiyang Youth Development Center to invite school students to our site for an immersive experience. Hands-on sessions included a garbage sorting competition, water purifier production, and an environmental salon – all helping to raise awareness of environmental responsibility, and how our world-class technology brings health and convenience to many lives.
Providing safe and affordable housing to people around the globe
As many as 1 in 4 people worldwide need decent housing; they live in conditions that harm their health and safety.
DuPont’s corporate partnership with Habitat for Humanity International helps families around the globe to live in more comfortable and safer living conditions. Our partnership includes donations of energy-efficient construction products as well as employee volunteers donating their skills and time at local site builds across the globe.
In Q4 2019, 400+ DuPont employees donated over 2,550 service hours in 16 communities across the US and Canada. In addition, some 30 employees helped to build a home at the 2019 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Nashville, TN, USA.
Providing smiles and donations to cancer patients in Bogota, Colombia
In Colombia, approximately 130,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year. Many turn to the National Cancer Institute for treatment.
As a demonstration of our Respect for People core value, employees at our Bogota site collected financial donations to purchase Christmas gifts for children, grooming kits for adults, and sweets to share with patients and their families at the Institute. Once the gifts were purchased and wrapped, employees hand-delivered all and spent a heartwarming afternoon with the children – sharing smiles during a difficult time.
Providing basic needs to children in Johannesburg, South Africa
Poverty and inequality are two of the biggest issues in South Africa. The Santa Shoebox Project, which began in Cape Town in 2006, provides hundreds of thousands of underprivileged children in South Africa and Namibia with a Santa Shoe Box. And this is no ordinary shoe box! It contains, at minimum, eight items including a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a washcloth, and school supplies – and then some toys, sweets and clothes.
For the past several years at Christmas time, individual employees from our Johannesburg site have donated Santa Shoe Boxes to local children. In 2019, for the first time, this donation was a Corporate Social Initiative project for the entire DuPont site. In total, our site proudly provided 24 Santa Shoe Boxes.
Ensuring a cleaner environment in Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA
The “Keep it Clean” program from the city of Auburn Hills, Michigan is designed to keep the city's roadsides, open areas, and parks clean and attractive.
Our Auburn Hills site has adopted a 2-mile stretch of a local road, and is responsible to clean litter from this stretch twice per year. In October 2019 approximately 35 employees, and some family members/friends, held a clean-up event along “our” road. They collected approximately 1,000 pounds of trash … definitely helping to promote a cleaner environment!
