High-consistency rubber (HCR) is a type of silicone elastomer known for high molecular weight and excellent mechanical properties, including durability, flexibility and resistance to extreme temperatures. HCRs are millable thermoset silicone elastomers that can be extruded continuously to form desired sizes and shapes before curing to create robust, biocompatible parts. While HCRs are particularly ideal for silicone tubing and medical devices, other common applications include seals, gaskets and components for healthcare and other industrial sectors.
