3/16” Drainage & Air Ventilation Mat Required for Stucco, Adhered Masonry, and Direct Applied Claddings

<br><b>DuPont™ ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat</b> is designed to provide a required 3/16" ventilated airspace for water drainage and air circulation behind commercial exterior claddings like stucco, stone, and direct applied claddings. ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat is a part of the ArmorWall™ System and when used together in a properly designed assembly, limits inward moisture movement through the exterior wall covering, helps reduce solar heat gain, and promotes high performance moisture management to keep your exterior wall protected & dry.<br><br><b>ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat</b> is comprised of a heavy  duty, non-permeable black corrugation laminated to a gray  filter fabric scrim. Incorporating ArmorDry™ can help improve the performance of the building envelope by helping to reduce the risk of mold growth and water damage.

How do I install ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat?
Temporary attachment of ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat is provided with DuPont™ ArmorWall™ approved cladding fasteners that are installed with a maximum of 4 feet on center, vertically and horizontally. Permanent attachment of ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat occurs with the lath or cladding attachment to DuPont™ ArmorWall™ with DuPont™ ArmorWall™ approved cladding fasteners.
When is the ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat needed?
ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat is required for stucco and other direct adhered assemblies that feature a lath system. Black paper is not an approved material with DuPont ArmorWall. In some cases, ArmorDry may also be used as an alternative to rail assemblies for cladding products such as ACM, fiber cement and other ventilated rainscreen materials.
Do I need DuPont approved fasteners when installing cladding over ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat:?
Any fastening of cladding materials or metal lath, in the case of stucco and adhered stone, connecting to or penetrating upon™ ArmorWall™ requires the use of DuPont approved fasteners. Contact your local sales professional for a list of approved fasteners.

Can I use black paper materials over DuPont™ ArmorWall™ in the case of stucco and adhered stone?
Black paper-type products without ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat are not approved for use with DuPont™ ArmorWall™. Proper drainage and ventilation design for effective moisture management is provided with a minimum 3/16” air space under the exterior cladding and proper detailing to promote drainage and drying. ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat provides a non-permeable 3/16' drainage and ventilation space for high performance moisture management in wall assemblies.
